Your task

The ICRC public health doctor works in a team with other ICRC health delegates (nurses/midwives) to carry out primary health-care programmes for civilians, including displaced persons, affected by conflict.

Through a programme of teaching and supervision, the team works with local counterparts to improve the quality of health care.

Selection requirements
  • ideal age: 30 to 45
  • prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
  • excellent command of English; French an asset
  • degree in medicine, plus master's degree in public health or equivalent
  • at least three years' post-graduate clinical experience
  • sound knowledge of public health
  • experience working in developing countries is an advantage
  • driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
