The humanitarian situation in Somalia has sharply deteriorated in recent months, keeping a growing number of people dependent on external humanitarian assistance. Working closely with the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS), its main partner in Somalia, the ICRC is therefore continuing to provide emergency assistance, giving first priority to people in life-threatening situations.
The ICRC distributes relief food and essential household items to thousands of people displaced by fighting or affected by drought in central and southern Somalia, trucks water daily to hundreds of thousands more and rehabilitates water points in a number of regions. 5-8-2010 Somalia, where medics risk their lives to help![]() As the conflict in Somalia worsens, medical services are facing growing difficulties.
