Profession: Economic security delegate
in the field

Your task

The economic security delegate has several functions:

  • developing a comprehensive overview and understanding of the livelihoods, economy, culture, customs, social structure and politics of a context
  • in link to the water and sanitation, health and/or detention protection teams instigate and participate actively in assessments; assist in the identification of beneficiaries , assist in the selection of an appropriate intervention system; participate in the formulation of projects proposal
  • implementing and monitoring activities according to set objectives and defined plans of actions and promoting the principles of the Red Cross and of international humanitarian law
  • as a representative of the ICRC, he/she also maintains contact and negotiates with government authorities – civilian and military – in order to carry out his/her works as effectively as possible
Selection requirements
  • ideal age: 25 to 35
  • prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
  • excellent command of English and French; additional languages an asset
  • university degree in the fields of economics, agronomy, nutrition, development, public health or anthropology
  • minimum of 3 years professional experience in one of the above mentioned field
  • humanitarian field experience is a must as well as emergency response
  • driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
  • fully conversant with IT tools
