27-01-2006 News release 06/05 Colombia: fighting forces 1,600 to flee Some 1,600 indigenous people have had to flee their homes in the department of Cauca, south-west Colombia, following an upsurge in armed clashes. They are currently living in three locations. As often happens in such cases, they are experiencing health problems as a consequence of having been displaced. In addition, they are unable to obtain basic foods.
