Relations with international organizations: extract from ICRC Annual Report 2007
In international forums, the ICRC promotes knowledge, understanding and – whenever appropriate – the development of IHL. It explains its position on issues of humanitarian concern. It multiplies contacts to facilitate its operations in the field and raise awareness of the plight and needs of those affected by armed conflicts and violence, including IDPs. Above all, it strives to defend and promote impartial, neutral and independent humanitarian action, and to guard against the use of humanitarian activities for military or political ends.
